Christian is president of the communal bank group, and in the photo can be found in the back row, at the end, in the plaid shirt, with his hand reaching upwards.
He works in the field of welding. He works with metal structures that are used for construction. He has been in this work for 10 years. He also works independently, with a flexible schedule, working 4 days a week. His clients go to his home address and ask for his welding services.
Fo now he works in a little workshop that is set up in the patio of his house. There he has his tools among which are a galletero (a tool to cut various types of materials), an electric saw, and a welding machine among others. He buys his welding supplies from large distributors.
With the money from the loan he will buy a hammer/percussion drill used in construction.
One of his goals is to have a large workshop with some kind of roofing outside his house. Christian lives with his wife and his 4 sons who are school students. He is the head of the household. One of his dreams is that his children become professionals so that they have more economic stability.
Cristian is very pleased with the opportunity offered by Fondo Esperanza as it has permitted him to buy different types of tools for his business which has been expanding. He also says that what he has learned through the communal bank training has become a part of his business as he puts to use what he learns.
Valparaíso is located 20 kilometers northwest of Santiago. It is the regional capital and the seat of legislative power of the country. It is the main port of the nation and offers a great variety of beautiful and picturesque places, for example the house of the poet Pablo Neruda, winner of the Nobel Prize.

Se dedica al rubro de la soldadura, él trabaja con estructuras metálicas las cuales utiliza para construir.
Trabaja en éste oficio desde hace 10 años, además trabaja de manera dependiente, por lo que flexibiliza su horario, trabajando 4 días a la semana.
Sus clientes van a su domicilio particular y solicitan sus servicios de soldadura.
Por ahora trabaja en un pequeño taller que habilitó en el patio de su casa. Ahí cuenta con diferentes herramientas entre las cuales se encuentran una galletero (herramienta para cortar diferentes tipos de materiales), serrucho eléctrico, maquina soldadora, entre otros.
Sus insumos para soldar los compra en grandes distribuidoras.
Con el crédito comprará un taladro percutor para sus construcciones.
Una de sus metas es tener un taller grande en algún galpón y fuera de su casa.
Cristian vive junto a su esposa y sus cuatro hijos, quienes estudian y asisten al colegio. Él es el jefe de hogar.
Uno de sus sueños es que sus hijos sean profesionales de ésta manera tendrían una mejor estabilidad económica.
Cristian está muy agradecido de la oportunidad brindada por Fondo Esperanza, ya que le ha permitido comprar diversas herramientas para su negocio. El cual ha ido en aumento. Además comenta que la ayuda también ha sido de manera integral por las capacitaciones realizadas, aprendizajes que ha incorporado en su negocio.

Es el primer puerto de la nación y ofrece gran variedad de lugares hermosos y pintorescos, como por ejemplo la casa del poeta Pablo Neruda, ganador del Premio Nobel.
About Fondo EsperanzaFondo Esperanza (FE) is a private non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurship by providing micro-credit and training to people living in poverty in well over 100 cities throughout Chile. By providing these services, FE aims to improve the living conditions of the entrepreneurs and their families. In 2010, FE provided loans to more than 41,000 entrepreneurs. It utilizes a communal banking model in which groups of 18 to 25 clients meet on regularly and guarantee each other’s loans. The members use their portion of the loan to create or expand their own businesses. In the group meetings, clients receive training though the FE Entrepreneurship School, which enhances clients’ personal and business skills and ability to work in groups.
