Mrs. Luon, age 58, is a diligent mother who strives to work hard to better her standard of living. She is in the business of cultivating rice crops alongside her husband on their farmland in the Prey Chor district. Together, they typically earn an average of $6 per day.
This is Mrs. Luon's second loan from Kiva. She would like to borrow the loan to purchase a motorcycle to use in the family and business as needed. In the future, she hopes to improve her business and increase her income.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
