Abbas is a 32-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and two children who are still studying. He’s considered as the main source of income for his family and they really depend on him. He has been working as a van driver since 1999. He works independently, on a free-lance basis. Today, he’s in need of a loan of $1600 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to pay his van’s mechanic fees, perform the needed maintenance on it, in addition to painting. Otherwise, he may lose his loyal and trusted customers. In the future, he plans to organize tourist trips all over the country.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
