Irene

She equipped a small workshop inside her home, where she has five sewing machines, including industrial, straight stitch, and embroidering machines. This variety of machines has enabled her to provide her services to various schools and private customers.

The also mentions that during this Christmas season, she has a stand in a Christmas market where she sells towels, and other Christmas items. She says that she buys her merchandise in the Independencia municipality, as in this area where she finds fabric and other supplies at lower prices.

She keeps her hours of work flexible, however she must be available to work every day from Monday to Sunday.

She will use the loan to buy sewing supplies, including fabric, thread, and zippers, as she must get herself organized for making school clothing for the back-to-school season, which is during the month of March.

Her goals are to expand her business, and to purchase a cover stitch machine, used for finishing cuffs and necks of T-shirts, and sweatshirts.

Irene lives with her husband, and says that one of her dreams is to go on vacation in the south of the country, as she wants to take a break.

She is very happy and thankful for the opportunity that Fondo Esperanza has given her to invest in her business, which means a lot to Irene. In addition, the training provided at the meetings has been very useful, as she has learned to invest, and improve her earnings. As well, she feels very comfortable with the communal bank she belongs to, as they do activities together, and it is a supportive and responsible group.

Peñalolén is located to the east of the Santiago Metropolitan Region, It has various attractions, such as vineyards, heritage buildings, and natural areas for excursions. These are the elements that are transforming this municipality into a new tourist destination within the Metropolitan Region.

Irene integrante del Banco comunal “Futuros Emprendedores”, perteneciente a la comuna de Peñalolén.
Se dedica al corte y confección de ropa, desempeñándose como costurera.
Trabaja en este rubro desde hace 10 años.
Habilitó un pequeño taller al interior de su casa, en el cual cuenta con 5 máquinas de coser, entre industriales, recta y bordadora. Esta diversidad de maquinarias le ha permitido entregar sus servicios a diferentes colegios y clientes particulares.
Además comenta que durante esta temporada de navidad se instala en una feria navideña en la cual vende toallas y otros artículos navideños.
Comenta que su mercadería la compra en la comuna de Independencia, ya que es en éste sector donde los precios de telas y demás insumos los encuentra a un bajo costo.
Su horario de trabajo lo flexibiliza, sin embargo debe tener disponibilidad para trabajar todos los días, de lunes a domingo.
Con el crédito comprará insumos para sus costuras, entre telas, hilos y cierres, ya que debe organizarse con la ropa de colegio para la temporada escolar, la cual es durante el mes de marzo.
Sus metas son ampliar su negocio y comprar una máquina colleretera, la cual sirve para realizar las terminaciones de puños y cuellos de poleras y polerones.
Irene vive junto a su marido y comenta que uno de sus sueños es salir a vacacionar al sur del país, ya que quiere descansar.
Ella está muy contenta y agradecida de la oportunidad que le ha brindado Fondo Esperanza, para invertir en su negocio, por lo que significa mucho para Irene, además las capacitaciones impartidas en las reuniones le han servido mucho, ya que ha aprendido a invertir y obtener mejores ganancias.
Por otro lado se encuentra muy cómoda con el grupo del Banco comunal del cual forma parte, ya que realizan actividades, es un grupo solidario y responsable.
Peñalolén se localiza al oriente de la región metropolitana. Cuenta con diversos atractivos tales como viñas, edificios considerados patrimonio histórico y sitios naturales de excursión, elementos que están transformando a esta comuna en un nuevo panorama turístico dentro de la región Metropolitana.

About Fondo Esperanza

Fondo Esperanza (FE) is a private non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurship by providing micro-credit and training to people living in poverty in well over 100 cities throughout Chile. By providing these services, FE aims to improve the living conditions of the entrepreneurs and their families. In 2010, FE provided loans to more than 41,000 entrepreneurs. It utilizes a communal banking model in which groups of 18 to 25 clients meet on regularly and guarantee each other’s loans. The members use their portion of the loan to create or expand their own businesses. In the group meetings, clients receive training though the FE Entrepreneurship School, which enhances clients’ personal and business skills and ability to work in groups.
