Sahar is a 47-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and three children. Two of them are still studying while the other one is working. She collaborates with her husband to cover their expenses and enhance their way of living. Sahar opened her own supermarket in 1996, and noticed that it is a good way to earn superior income. As for her husband, he has been working on his own for the past fifteen years. Today, she’s looking for a loan of $2,100 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to add new inventory for her business such as dairy products, soft drinks, canned bottles and many other items. This Kiva loan will increase her revenues by 15%. In the future, she plans to further develop her supermarket by adding extra products to it.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
