Pauline is a mother of five children, three of whom are still of school-going age. She has been in poultry farming for five solid years, with her poultry going to the local market.
Pauline has requested a loan of 31,200 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow for a venture into dairy farming. She plans to have five dairy cows in the future in order to enjoy the economies of scale and be among the major suppliers for the local market.
She states that the major challenge remains animal diseases.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
