Jassem is a 31-year-old Lebanese man who lives with his wife and only child. He’s the only one responsible for his family and he seeks to offer them a better future. He opened a fish shop twelve years ago, and he’s satisfied with the results he has attained so far. Today, he’s requesting a loan of $2000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase the necessary quantity of fish for his shop. He notes that this will allow him to serve a wider range of people and increase his revenues. In the future, he plans to open his own seafood restaurant.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
