Raefat is a 52-year-old Lebanese, married man. He lives with his wife and three children. He’s trying the best he can to fulfill his family's needs. He has been working as a taxi driver since 2001 and has gained a fair number of loyal customers. He works independently, on a free-lance basis. Today, he needs to borrow $600 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to perform maintenance on some mechanical issues and pay his car’s mechanic's fee. This will facilitate his business operations. In the future, he plans to buy a minivan to service more people.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
