James is a resident and a farmer in the Muranga area of Central Kenya. He is aged 50 and married with 3 children; the first two are adults. His farm produce of milk and tea go to the local market. He also gets additional income from his retail business in the local market.
James has made a loan request from Juhudi Kilimo for 63,600 KES to purchase and insure a dairy cow. He says the dairy cow will help improve the family livelihood. He intends to do intensive breeding once his dairy business is well established.
He adds the future will be great with the financial services available from Juhudi Kilimo.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
