He has never had a loan with other banks, but FEDECOSUR has provided a loan with the best terms and a much lower interest rate.

Jorge Eduardo, tiene la edad de 46 años, está casado y vive con su esposa y 5 hijos que son su mayor prioridad. El con el crédito pretende comprar los insumos para la asistencia de su siembra de maíz, el comprara abonos, fungicidas y herbicidas para mantener su cultivo. El cuenta con la siembra ya establecida en muy buenas calidades y lo que quiere es obtener de ella los mejores resultados. El con la venta del maíz producido pretende generar el máximo de ganancias para seguir adelante con las responsabilidades del hogar y mejorar cada día su bienestar económico. Es el primer préstamo que recibido de FUDECOSUR. El no había tenido antes otros préstamos en bancos estatales, pero FUDECOSUR le ha brindado el préstamo con mayores facilidades y la tasa de intereses mucho más baja.

FUDECOSUR works in one of the poorest regions of Costa Rica, where microfinance institutions (MFIs) are scarce or have a hard time keeping up with demand for small loans. By providing mostly agricultural loans, FUDECOSUR reaches rural borrowers that many MFIs consider to be too risky. However, this has also made it more difficult for the organization to find stable sources of capital to lend.
