Sanaa is a 43-year-old, married woman. She lives with her husband and three children. Two of the children are still attending school and the other is working. She started selling clothes from her home in 1995. She’s now working with her husband to earn higher revenues and cover their children’s educational fees. Her husband has owned a coffee shop for the past 16 years. Today, she wants to borrow $1,000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase additional quantities of clothes, such as coats, scarves and pants. She notes that this Kiva loan will improve her business and thus allow her to gain more customers. In the future, she plans to open her own clothing shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
