Hiyam is a 39-year-old Lebanese woman. She’s married, living with her husband and two children. She cooperates with her husband who has been working as a soldier in the Lebanese army and he’s now benefiting from his retirement compensation.
As for Hiyam, she has been teaching private lessons from her home for the past 10 years. Today, she’s asking for a loan of 1,100 USD from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase a library for her education room. She notes that this will help her arrange her books in a proper way. In the future, she plans to open her own learning center.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
