Originally from a village located in the Kang Meas district, Ly is a 32-year-old married mother of three children, two of whom are still in school. She has been running a food and grocery store for more than four years as primary business for her family. She sells drinking water, beer, beef soup, boiled duck egg, biscuits, soap, shampoo, etc. With her current business, she earns more than five U.S. dollars per day and saves around two U.S. dollars per day.
This is Ly’s first loan with VisionFund. She will use this loan to buy more beer, drinking water, biscuits, shampoo, etc. for her store. This loan will enable her to increase her business so as to earn a larger income to build on some savings for her future needs and also keep her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
