Hector came to the United States in 2003 with the dream of starting his own company. Back in his native Ecuador, he was in the fishing industry for over 20 years and so he wanted to start a business in his area of expertise. With that, he decided to import seafood from Ecuador to South Florida. It took him almost 4 years to plan the business, from creating distribution partnerships to developing operations. He started the business a year and a half ago and it has been growing since then. Hector’s son lives in Ecuador and manages logistics, including purchasing in bulk and shipping for sale and distribution in the United States. Hector is very proud to say he is a business owner and wants to expand to new markets. He hopes to someday distribute nationally and leave behind a legacy for his family.

This is Hector’s second loan with Accion USA. He will use it to purchase shrimp and fish in bulk and have it shipped to the United States. Now that the slow season has been over for a few months, this loan will help Hector stock up the inventory he needs to jump-start expansion of his clientele base.
