Marina is the coordinator of her group, 'Con Dios adelante al progreso' 1, 2 & 3 (Forward Progress with God). Her group is located in the rural area of San Pedro de Macoris, surrounded by sugar cane fields. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her four children. She is a single mother. Her most difficult challenge has been to raise her children and educate them.

Marina is excited to be seeking her 6th loan with Esperanza. She started doing business since almost 8 years ago, at first walking with a bag of clothing, cosmetics and shoes, and now after taking out some loans, she is selling chicken in her community. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business and she will buy some live chickens to start selling every day. At the end of the day, after she finishes selling chicken, Marina starts working in her house cleaning or attending to her children. She thanks all of you for your support.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
