Sofía sells stuffed animals at the main fair in the city of El Alto.

The loan that she needs is to buy more merchandise in order to put out more variety. She wants to offer her customers different colors, sizes, and shapes of stuffed animals for the Christmas season.

Sofía has three children; one of them is already independent. She lives in her parents’ house in the 16 de Julio zone in the city of El Alto.

La señora Sofía se dedica a la venta de peluches en la feria principal de la ciudad de El Alto. El crédito lo requiere para la compra de más mercadería para poner variedad y ofrecer a su clientela peluches de varios colores, tamaños y formas en la época de navidad. Sofía tiene tres hijos de los cuales uno de ellos ya es independiente .Vive en casa de sus padres la misma queda ubicada en la zona 16 de Julio de la Ciudad de El Alto. Sofía es cliente de Impro desde el año 2008 y esta es la primera vez que su solicitud se envía a Kiva.

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
