Fatmeh is a 54-year-old married Lebanese woman living with her husband and one child who is still attending school. She cooperates with her husband, who works on his own, to be able to cover her child’s educational fees. Fatmeh began giving private lessons from her home in 2000. She has also been a teacher in a local school for the past 21 years.
Fatmeh is requesting a 1,000 USD loan from the Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to renovate her house and prepare a special room for giving educational lessons. In that way, she will be able to improve her family's living standards. In the future, Fatmeh plans to retire and receive her retirement compensation in addition to continuing her private lessons.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
