Bertha is a 49 year old woman, a divorced mother of two children. Both of her children are in school. The oldest is in high school and the youngest in elementary school. The live in the "13 de Abril" housing cooperative in the city of Santo Domingo.

It is a privileged place, not just for its ethnic heritage, but for the unusual landscapes that can be seen at the very entrance to this beautiful city. Santo Domingo de los Colorados belongs now to the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, which was recently formed. The main festival of Santo Domingo is celebrated with many tourists and commerce and cultural exchange. There is a big fair in the facilities of the Cattle Rancher's Association. There the best examples of the different breeds of cattle from the region are shown.

Bertha has worked selling casual clothing for 20 years. She works from Monday through Saturday all day long. This has allowed her to support her children and give them a modest life. She wants to invest in merchandise since at this Christmas season her sales go up considerably, allowing her to have extra income to get ahead in her home. Despite collecting from her customers, every day it gets harder due to economic crisis. She remains optimist since she has a good clientele.

She hopes to have a merry Christmas with her family and with this investment, she will be able to give her children a better quality of life.

Bertha es una mujer de 49 años, divorciada y madre de dos hijos. Ambos están actualmente estudiando, el mayor en el colegio y el menor en la escuela. Viven en la Cooperativa "13 de Abril" de la ciudad de Santo Domingo.
Santo Domingo de los Colorados es una de las ciudades más jóvenes del país, actualmente se ha constituido en el punto de enlace entre las región Sierra y Costa. Es un sitio privilegiado, no solo por la riqueza étnica, sino también por los paisajes inusitados que se pueden encontrar desde el ingreso mismo a esta bella ciudad. Santo Domingo de los Colorados pertenece actualmente a la provincia de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, recientemente conformada. La fiesta principal de Santo Domingo, se celebra con un movimiento intenso de visitantes, intercambio comercial y cultural. Una gran feria tiene lugar en las instalaciones de la Asociación de Ganaderos, allí se muestran y compiten los mejores ejemplares de las distintas razas y cruces que son criados en las haciendas de la región.

Bertha trabaja vendiendo ropa casual desde hace 20 años; trabaja de lunes a sábado durante todo el día. Esto le ha permitido a ella mantener a sus hijos y darles una vida modesta. Ella desea invertir en mercadería ya que en esta época navideña las ventas incrementan considerablemente, lo que le permitiría tener un ingreso extra para así poder seguir adelante con su hogar. A pesar de que la cobranza a los clientes cada día se hace más difícil por la crisis económica ella se mantiene optimista ya que cuenta con una buena cartera de clientes.

Ella espera pasar unas felices navidades junto a su familia y con esta inversión podrá darles a sus hijos una mejor calidad de vida.
