Ibadet M. is a 43-year-old man who breeds calves for meat production. He lives in a small village of Saatli region and has run this business since 2000. He applied for $1100 USD to purchase one milk cow for $700 USD and two baby calves for $200 USD each. He is going to start selling milk and yoghurt to the local bazaar traders and increase his meat production business.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
