Ricardo is from the village of San Jose, Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur. He is 58 years old. Ricardo is married and has five school-aged children.
To make a living, Ricardo has been planting and harvesting flowers for sale. Ricardo has been engaged in his business for over 21 years and earns approximately 15,000 PHP a month.
In 2010, Ricardo joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve his living situation and his ability to engage in business activities. Ricardo is requesting a new loan of 20,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase fertilizers, such as manure. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of his family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
