Ali is a 50-year-old Lebanese married man who lives with his wife and five children. Three of them are still attending school while two others are working.
Ali works really hard with the objective of ensuring that he and his family can live in a respectable way. For that reason, in 1985, he decided to start his own business as a painter. He has thirty years of experience and works independently.
Today, he is requesting a loan of $1500 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase new scaffolding for his business so that he will not need to rent it. This will allow him save more money and thus increase his earnings. In the future, he plans to open his own painting shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
