A 43-year-old married mother of three dependent children, Sreang is a farmer in a rural area. She has been farming her rice field for 20 years, and supplements her income by raising pigs. With her current business, she earns around ten U.S. dollars per day.
Having successfully repaid her first loan, she is applying for another loan with VisionFund. She wants to buy 600 U.S. dollars-worth of piglets and feed for her pigs. With this loan, she hopes to increase the number of pigs she has and also feed them so that they are healthy and fat. She also hopes to earn larger income, to make a better living, and build up some savings.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
