Ri is 33 years old, married and has two children who are still in school. She has been farming her rice field as her main source of income for twelve years and she supplements her income by planting cassava. She is the third cycled loan client who has successfully repaid her last loan with VisionFund. After the loans, she earns more than twenty U.S. dollars per day and saves more than USD three per day.
Given her good business and repayment, she is applying for another loan. She will use all of this loan to buy cassava from villages to sell. This loan will enable her to increase her business and earn more income to build on some savings and also keep her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
