Janett Concepcion
Janett continues administering her kiosk at a school, which she has been doing for a number of years, selling a variety of products. Her sales have grown thanks to the clientele she has attracted at the school, being fixed customers. She has been making improvements to her home with loans authorized by Kiva partner Afodenic for a number of cycles. With this new loan she wants to continue construction on a wall, which she made quite a bit of progress on with her previous loan, and her goal is close it off completely with concrete. She plans to purchase materials such as cinder blocks, iron, sand and cement to continue the work. Since her husband is a construction worker, they save on labor costs. Making progress with the construction is a great benefit to her family, so Janett is content in continuing toward her goal.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
