Samer is a 26-year-old Lebanese man. He lives with his wife and their two children who are still attending school. He’s the main source of income in the family and has many responsibilities. He has seven years of experience as a van driver. In 2007, he decided to have his own van. He works on a freelance basis depending on his customers’ requests. Today, he’s asking to borrow $2,100 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to perform necessary maintenance on his van and change its wheels. That way, he will be secure in his transportation and keep his customers safe. In the future, he plans to expand his business by buying a bigger van with an additional number of passenger seats.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
