Aysha is a 57-year-old Lebanese woman. She lives with her husband and their five children who are still attending school. She coordinates with her husband to satisfy the family needs. Aysha had ten years of experience in selling electronics supplies and satellites, before deciding to open her own shop in 2006. As for her husband’s job, it consists of installing satellites upon customers’ requests. Today, Aysha is asking for a loan of $2,100 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase added equipment for her business, such as satellites, mixers, refrigerators and many other items, in order to increase her revenue. In the future, she plans to expand her shop by adding diverse electrical items.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
