Rhubie is from the village of Clarin. She is 39 years old. Rhubie is married. To make a living, Rhubie owns & operates a "sari-sari" (general store) business. The main source of income for the business comes from selling a variety of different products in the local community. Rhubie has been engaged in her business for over 8 year and earns approximately 30,000 PHP a month from these activities.
In 2004, Rhubie joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Rhubie has successfully repaid a previous loan from GDMPC. Rhubie is requesting a new loan of 10,000 PHP which will be used to purchase more stocks to sell. This loan will be the 26th loan taken out by Rhubie from GDMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to supplement the family's income.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
