Haitham is 39 years old, married and lives with his wife and four children, all of whom attend school. For the last 18 years, he has worked hard as a taxi driver to support his family and pay his children's school fees. He is applying for a loan for $2,000 from Kiva partner Ameen to upgrade his car’s engine, perform needed maintenance and have the vehicle painted. This will allow him to carry on with his work in a proper way. In the future, he plans to buy a minivan in order to transport more people.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
