He also notes that thanks to these kinds of organisations and their loan facilities he can dedicate more time to productive activities.

Randall es un señor de 27 años de edad el cual vive con su familia, en una comunidad llamada Osa, localizada en Caña Blancal esto en la provincia de Puntarenas. Está comunidad se destaca por ser una zona rural muy visitada por sus playas. Sus principales actividades económicas son las turísticas y agropecuarias.

El tiene la motivación y la ayuda de sus familiares, lo cual le facilita seguir con su vida. Además le es muy importante adquirir este medio de transporte, ya que la demanda es cada vez más fuerte y los vecinos de la comunidad se han sentido satisfechos con el servicio brindado, ya que Randall es obrero de construcción.

Lo que en estos momentos solicita Randall es un micro crédito de ¢596,000(quinientos noventa y seis mil colones), para comprar una motocicleta para movilizarse a su trabajo todos los días, y para dar el mejor mantenimiento y asistencia posible a su proyecto.

Randall es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, una de las 150 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Con este préstamo se espera crecer más a nivel personal y económico. También destaca que gracias a este tipo de organizaciones y medios facilitadores de crédito puede dedicar más tiempo a las actividades productivas.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
