Damaris
Damaris is 47 years old and lives with her husband and three children in the Fray Casiano, Puntarenas zone, a poor neighborhood with many limitations. She’s been doing arts and crafts for 10 years and presents herself as being someone with a great desire to succeed. She constantly trains to offer her clients high quality products. She embroiders purses, appliance covers, bath items, and quality decorations for birthday parties and other events, such as first communions and baptisms. She’s widely known within the zone, for being dedicated to this work and she is not short of customers throughout the year.

She began by buying a small quantity of materials with her husband’s help. She started training herself and improving her techniques and ended up diversifying her production, increasing her number of customers, and increasing her income. The objective of this loan is to buy supplies and repair a sewing machine to be able to offer better quality products.

She works throughout most of the day. Her oldest daughter studies at university and her younger children attend school. Her day begins with her preparing their lunches for school. Because of the large number of orders, she works late into the night. She has to work by hand, but once the sewing machine is fixed, she will be able to speed up and increase her production, and have more time to spend with her family.

The main limiting factor has been lack of money, but this opportunity for a loan will allow her to have the capital she needs to buy supplies, increase her production, and make her dream of fixing up her house come true.
