Sawsan is a 48-year-old married woman with one son and one daughter. She has a beauty salon, which is her sole source of income. Her daughter also works with her in the salon.
Sawsan wants to make some repairs to her salon, such as painting, changing the windows and the door, etc. She also wants to purchase a beauty salon kit (such as hair creams and shampoo, hairdryers, different types of hairbrush, etc.) in order to improve her work. She does not have sufficient funds for this, so she wants to take a loan of $2,000 from Kiva partner FATEN. When Sawsan receives the loan, she will make the necessary repairs to her beauty salon and purchase a new beauty salon kit. This will enable her to improve her salon and work to satisfy her customers and increase her income.
Sawsan is a conservative woman, so her daughter is photographed in the salon instead.
