Valentin, 61, is married and has 3 grown children who are also all married. He has worked for 25 years as a mason, a trade that he learned from a family member. From April to October, the planting season, he also cultivates corn. He makes two plantings per year, each time planting 3500 square meters of corn.

Valentin asks Fundacion Campo for a loan to buy 5 bags of cement, half a truckload of sand, 500 cement tiles and to pay laborers wages. With this investment he will be able to plaster the walls and change the roof on his home, since it was built several years ago. He doesn't have enough money to be able to make the improvements, which are necessary because in winter his house gets wet because the roof is inadequate. Once he has made the repairs, the water won't get in the house and the plaster on the walls will last longer. In the future, Valentin wants to add on some more rooms because he would like his children to bring their families to live with him.
