Mwanatumu is a married woman with five children, two of whom are enrolled in school while the other three have completed school. Her husband is a farmer who contributes to the family's basic needs. She owns a house with neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is transportation.
Mwanatumu has operated as a small scale farmer keeping farm animals and also crop farming for the past ten years. Her potential clients are the local area residents. She faces a major challenge of seasonality. She dreams of expanding her business.
With the Kshs 90,000 she wants to purchase a motorbike for her new motorbike transportation business. She decided to join Yehu to access funds to improve her living standards.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
