Confiance is a group of seven women, who average 37 years of age with three children each; the majority of them live in monogamous families in Ouayerma 1, one of the working-class districts of the town of Sikasso.

They are on their fourteenth loan from the micro-finance institution, Soro Yiriwaso, with a view to satisfying their customer demand. Their previous loans have been repaid in full.

Kadi, on the far right, sells condiments in the Confiance group of women. With her loan she is planning to buy three cartons of Maggi stock cubes, 25 kg of rock salt, 10kg of onions, three baskets of fresh holly, four baskets of fresh tomatoes and two baskets of egg-plants at Sikasso's Grand Market and in surrounding villages. She resells at Sikasso's Grand Market, at a fixed place, and within her family, to a customer base made up of men and women, for cash.

She is expecting to make an average monthly profit of 40,500FCFA, part of which will be used to pay her loan and the interest on it, while the rest will be saved.

CONFIANCE est un regroupement de sept femmes mariées qui ont une moyenne d’âge de 37 ans, 3 enfants et qui vivent majoritairement dans des familles monogames à OUAYERMA I un des quartiers populaires de la ville de Sikasso.
Elles sont à leur quatorzième prêt avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle. Les prêts passés ont été correctement remboursés.
KADI la première à droite, fait le commerce de condiments dans ce groupe de femmes CONFIANCE.
Elle compte acheter avec son prêt 3cartons de cube maggie, 25kg de sel gemme, 100kg d’oignons, 3 paniers de houx frais, 4paniers de tomates fraiches, 2 paniers d’ aubergines au grand marché de la ville de Sikasso et dans les villages avoisinants.
Elle les revend au grand marché de Sikasso à une place fixe et en famille à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes au comptant.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 40.500FCFA dont une partie est utilisée pour payer le prêt et son intérêt et l’autre pour son épargne.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
