The Santa Rosa Communal Bank of the city of Villa Ygatimí is in the first loan cycle of the Programa Comité D. Mujeres Rurales, of the Fundación Paraguaya, with a total of ten members. All are responsible and dedicated women who make an effort through their work every day so they can help their families and children. They are heads of household who bear the responsibility of taking care of their families.

One of the members is Juana, who has worked raising chickens for a long time already. She comments that her work is very selfless, since she always has to devote her time to her animals so they do not get any illness. She says the animals she raises sell well, which is why she wants to continue investing in them.

She is requesting the loan to buy little chickens to raise and later sell. She also will buy feed for them.

She is grateful for the opportunity that the foundation is giving her.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
