The communal bank "Las Vecinas" is comprised of nine members who all work in different activities which allow them to cover household expenses and help their families get ahead. They live in different parts of the city of Cuenca. This city has been a World Heritage site since 1999. Its mix of colonial and modern make it a beautiful city. The local people maintain their culture and traditions and are very warm-hearted and kind.

One of the members of the group is Mrs. Mercedes. She is 40 years old and married. Her husband is an auto mechanic and has his own workshop. They live in their own house.

She has been a domestic employee for three years, working Tuesday through Saturday, all day. In her free time she sells different brands of cosmetics.

This is her first loan through the communal bank which she was invited to join by a friend of hers. She plans to use the loan to buy perfumes, creams and cosmetics so she will have more variety to offer customers.

Her goal is to have her own business, something like a bazaar.

El banco comunal Las Vecinas, está formado por 8 socias y 1 socio quienes trabajan en diferentes actividades, las mismas que le permiten solventar los gastos del hogar y así salir adelante con su familia. Viven en diferentes lugares de la ciudad de Cuenca, esta ciudad es patrimonio cultural de la humanidad desde 1999, su mezcla entre lo colonial y lo moderno la hacen una ciudad muy bella, su gente mantienen la cultura y tradiciones, son personas muy cálidas y amables.

Una de las socias de este grupo es la Señora. Mercedes, tiene 40 años y es casada. Su esposo es de profesión mecánico automotriz y labora en su propio taller, la casa en la que vive es de su propiedad.

Ella labora como empleada privada hace 3 años y trabaja de martes a sábados todo el día, en sus tiempos libres se dedica a la venta de cosméticos de varias marcas.

Este es su primer crédito que realiza en el banco comunal al cual fue invitada por una amiga, su primer crédito lo va a invertir en la compra de perfumes, cremas y cosméticos para tener más variedad para sus clientes.

Su meta es tener un negocio propio como un bazar.
