Rosa was born in the district of Boane, in the province of Maputo in southern Mozambique. She is married and has three children, two of whom are in school, while the other is still a baby. She went to school through the fifth grade but had to drop out because of financial difficulties. She lives in her own home with her family, and also supports her mother, who lives with them.
She's had a business selling staple goods for more than 8 years and earns about 6,500 meticals a month. She uses her income for household expenses and is able to save a small amount in her bank account (BIM).
She's never had loans from other banks. She learned about Hluvuku from a friend who is also a client of the institution. This is her first loan, in the amount of 15,000 meticals, which she will use to buy construction materials (sand, cement, stone, beams, iron, etc.) to build her house.
She is committed to paying off this loan and in the future hopes to request further loans from Hluvuku to finish the work on her house and buy a car to help her transport her merchandise.
