Elshan is a 32-year-old trader who sells different kinds of foodstuffs. Elshan is married and has a son. He started his business in 2008 and since that time he has gained respect among the local people. The demand for foodstuffs is very high and he is not able to meet it. He needs to buy additional food products to increase his income. That is why he requested his second loan from AqroInvest. Elshan plans to use the loan of 1500 AZN to expand his inventory.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
