Enrique owns a car he uses to work as a taxi driver. His home is in the area called Cristo Rey Ladera Oeste in La Paz. He has two children and his wife cannot work because when she gave birth to their youngest son, the doctors did not do carry out a proper procedure, leaving her handicapped. This is the second time Enrique has applied for a loan through Impro and his credit record qualifies him as a client type 1, which means he pays his loans on time.

Because his car is not in good shape and because of the requirements stipulated by the taxi company he works for, Enrique is in need of a better vehicle. He will use this loan to buy a car that complies with the requirements of his taxi company. Enrique's old car is about to be sold and the money he will receive from the sale will be put into purchasing the new car. Enrique's good credit record allows him to apply for this loan because he is an experienced driver.

Additional Information

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
