Amina is a 45-year-old Lebanese married woman. She lives with her husband and three children who are all working. Unlike other women in her place, she’s the one responsible for her family and is their main income source. Amina strives to work really hard and doesn't hesitate to offer help whenever anyone needs it. Since 2003, she has owned a mini market where she also sells vegetables. Her business has succeeded, especially after being very welcoming and friendly. Today, she wants to borrow $2,500 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to buy supplementary products to be able to grow her business. In the future, she plans to open a snack shop next to her mini market.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
