Abbass is a 20-year-old Lebanese single man. He’s living with his parents and two siblings. One of them is working in addition to his mother who’s the main income provider in the family. Unlike others in his age, Abbass started to work very early expecting to help his mother with their expenses and he succeeded. He’s now working on a free-lance basis as plumber, and he has a fair number of clients asking for his services. Today, he’s requesting to borrow $1200 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase new tools and equipment for his business. Abbass notes that he’s willing to take on bigger projects and this Kiva loan will help him to achieve his goal. In the future, he plans to open his own shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
