Maymneh is a 38-year-old Lebanese married woman, living with her husband and two school-aged children. She started working as a tailor in her home in 2005 and at the same time has her second job in a local company. Her husband has been working with his own pickup since 1990, transporting products from town to town.
Today, Maymneh is asking for a loan of $2,000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to cover her children’s studying fees, in order to help them enrich their skills and allow them to achieve higher positions. In the future, she plans to work on new designs, boost her productivity and therefore enhance her way of living.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
