Luzy is aged 52 and married with three children. The last two are still in school. She has been in farming for over 15 years and produces maize, beans, coffee and milk which she sells at her local market in Nkubu area of Central Kenya.
Luzy has requested a loan of 40,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo. She will purchase poultry birds for 20,000 KES and dairy goats for 20,000 KES in order to boost her farming. She says says the income generated will help her feed and educate her children. She also wants to start a cereal shop where she will sell cereals sourced both from her farm and from other farmers in the area.
She appreciates the help Juhudi has given to farmers by providing farming loans.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
