Reuy, 55, is widowed and has five children. One of them is a dependent, while the other four are married, working as hairdresser and as a construction worker. Reuy is a farmer in a rural area of Moung Russey District. She also raises pigs and runs a small store selling face powder to generate additional income to feed her family. She has been in this business for 15 years to make a living.
Reuy has been with VisionFund since 2007, and she completely repaid the loan with VisionFund. The loans from VisionFund help her to have regular income and sufficiently feed her children. Now she is requesting for a fourth loan. She will use this loan to buy more piglets for her business. She hopes to earn more income from this business and can build on some savings for future needs.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
