Paula, 55, lives in a common law relationship with her husband. She has a 30-year-old, single son. She lives in a community in the Municipality of Tela, Atlántida.

Paula’s economic activity is baking ‘pan de coco’ bread which is made based on coconut milk. The ‘pan de coco’ is a traditional product typical of the Garífuna culture and is this ethnic group’s main food staple.

She started this business through a group of women who baked bread to generate income. Later, the group disbanded and she decided to continue producing and selling the product because the profits she obtained were attractive. At present, she hires two people to help her distribute the bread.

Paula has requested a loan to buy a stove with a large oven and to buy supplies like coconuts, flour, sugar and margarine as well as kitchen utensils that will facilitate production. In the future, she plans to use profits to expand the business and do some home improvements.

La señora Paula, tiene 55 años, vive en unión libre con su esposo, tiene un hijo soltero de 30 años de edad, reside en una comunidad del Municipio de Tela, Atlántida.
La actividad económica de Doña Paula es la elaboración de pan de coco el cual es elaborado a base de la leche del cocotero. El pan de coco es un producto tradicional propio de la cultura garífuna y es la base alimenticia de dicha etnia.
Ella comenzó su negocio a través de un grupo de mujeres que elaboraban pan para generación de ingresos, posteriormente el grupo se desintegro y ella decidió continuar con la producción y venta del producto en vista de que las ganancias que obtenía eran atractivas.
Actualmente ella ha logrado la contratación de dos personas empleadas que le apoyan en la distribución del pan.
Dona Paula ha solicitado un préstamo para invertir en la compra de una estufa con horno grande e insumos como: cocos, harina, azúcar, margarina, además utensilios de cocina que le facilitaran la elaboración del producto.
A futuro ella planea utilizar sus ganancias para ampliar su negocio y hacer mejoras a su vivienda.
