This Group is from the city of Villa Elisa. Twenty two friends and neighbors got together so that they could help one-another by working as a team. They want a better future for their children and families; they are the reason for their daily sacrifices.

Adela is one of the group’s members and she lives in her little house with her husband and children. She and her husband support one-another. She runs a small grocery store from her home and it is well stocked. She says that things are going well for her and that she has steady customers.

She is asking for this loan so that she can expand her business, now that her physical space is getting to be too small and she wants to continue expanding.

This group was formed four cycles ago and despite a few small problems, they always manage to come out ahead. Adela was the treasure when the group began and she always completed her duties very well and was very responsible with the members’ savings.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
