Saumu is 30 years old and married to Bakari. They have three school-going children. She owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food for the family.
For the past six years she has operated a food stall business, selling from home to her neighbours and passersby. She faces a major challenge of high cost of transportation in her business. She dreams of establishing a restaurant in the future.
With the 20,000 KES she wants to purchase one sack of potatoes and cooking fat oil. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
