Melvin is 39 years old, married, and has six children. She lives in Lower Tiparak, Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur: Philippines. Melvin owns and operates a farm, where she plants and harvests rice to sell. She has been farming for five years. She earns 6,000 PHP a month.
Melvin is requesting a loan for 12,000 PHP, which she will use to purchase fertilizer such as manure. Melvin has been a member of GDMPC for almost a year. In the future, she wants to make improvements to her house and pay for school fees for her children.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
