Sary, 48, is married and resides with her husband and two children in Takeo Province, Cambodia, an area known for pre-angkorean sites.
She grows rice and raises pigs at home. Her rice production is enough for her family, and she is able to sell her rice to middlemen as well. Her husband is a commune clerk. Her two children are also employed at a garment factory in the city for incomes to help cover the family expenses.
Sary is requesting a loan of USD 1,000 to purchase a motorbike for her daughter to commute to study at a university. By doing so, she is able to cut down the expense on the public transportation for her family members.
In the future, she would like to use any additional income to repair her house. This will be her second loan from KREDIT, a longstanding Kiva partner.
KREDIT Ltd. is one of Kiva’s most established partners in Southeast Asia. The organization empowers the economically-active poor and small entrepreneurs by providing inclusive financial services. Beyond loans, KREDIT offers low-income clients complementary training in debt management, savings and budgeting. In addition, KREDIT partners with NGOs to offer training in primary health care, agricultural techniques and HIV/AIDS awareness.
