Ali is a 32-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and only child. He has 10 years of experience working in the agricultural field. In 2006, he started his own business which consists of cultivating vegetables. He has one part-time employee helping him with his labor. Today, he is requesting to borrow $1,300 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase fertilizer, seeds, agricultural equipment, and supplies. The loan will absolutely improve his financial situation and he states that he is in a real need for this. In the future, he plans to open a vegetable shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
